'1698' was first brewed as a massive 10.5% brew to celebrate the brewery's tricentenary in 1998 - though it has thankfully lightened up a good deal since those days! Recreated as a 6.5% Strong Ale in 2005, the key to this brew's distinctive personality is that it is 'thrice-hopped' - hops are added three times during the brewing process, lending it an intense hoppy character. Opulent toffee, almond butter and sultana flavours are kept clean and in-balance by the generous use of fragrant Kentish hops. A full-flavoured, warming and satisfying beer.
PLEASE NOTE: As this beer ferments in the bottle sediment will exist. As a guide store upright and pour extremely carefully.
