Salopian Brewery was established at an Old Dairy on the outskirts of the medieval town of Shrewsbury in 1995, the plant having been moved from Snowdonia brewery in North Wales.  The brewery has never stood still and sales have grown every year, with the brewers priding themselves on uncomplicated, natural and traditional methods.

The original term for porter "English Butt" means "the whole barrel" and in the 1800's it was created by blending together a selection of ales.  Salopian's unique take on this traditional practice was to instead blend together 14 different malts and 3 hop varieties in a single mash to create one harmonious ale with the wide range of flavours you would achieve by blending beers.

The beer is black/brown with a crisp white head and is distinctly vinous.  It has little hop character as essentially the flavour is derived from the malts making Entire Butt an easy drinking companion to seafood and cheese dishes.
